Moving Problems? Don’t call the Cops…Call Moveit.ca

For more than 14 years now Moveit.ca has stood by its moving customers. Every month we have challenges with moving companies and their customers. It’s really not that surprising. Moving is one of the most stressful events of a person’s life. Moving to a new city, leaving friends and family behind, starting a new job or going to a new school. Being a stranger in a new place is uncomfortable. Being stressed can lead to a heightened level of anxiousness. Being anxious can exasperate a situation you would normally be able to handle calmly. I think this is why people sometimes have issues with their mover.

It’s stressful for the mover too. They are the ones on the front lines dealing with anxious customers. Their job is very physical and they often put in very long hours. It’s no wonder heads conflicts arise.

Incorrect Moving Estimate

This is where Moveit.ca comes in. We can act as a mediator for the customer and the mover to resolve just about any situation. Just recently we had a customer use Moveit.ca to book a move for her daughter (we respect privacy so no names will be used). The movers showed up on time and did a professional job. The company involved has never had a negative review before this. It was a long distance move and priced per pound (which is standard practice).

During the transport of the items, the customer was provided a weigh bill that was too high and consequently would have increased the invoice amount significantly. The daughter seeing this immediately started to post bad reviews online which got back to the moving company in question. Now everybody was anxious. However the customer who used Moveit.ca kept our thank you email with reference number and contacted us immediately (as she should have). We went straight to work contacting the mover and getting more details from our customer. By this time there were threats on both sides that the police and even the RCMP were going to get involved…geesh! Several emails went back and forth between Moveit and the customer. The whole time we were working with the mover trying to figure out why the weigh bill was so high. Both the customer and the mover were no longer talking to each other. The mover was refusing to deliver items unless she paid the invoice and the customer wanted to call the police, report more bad reviews and take the mover to civil court. It was getting way out of hand.

Thank fully the team at Moveit.ca was able to speak directly with the mover and ask a couple key questions. As it turns out this particular driver had two pickups on the truck and his assistant sent in the wrong weigh bill. We were able to get the correct weigh bill and show it to our customer. We also spoke with the Moving company owner and resolved this potential mess for everyone.

Long Distance Move with the Happy End

In the end, the mover apologized for the mistake, offered an additional discount for the mix up. The customer moving also apologized took down all the negative reviews and posted a good one explaining the issues and how the company resolved it to her satisfaction. The items were delivered on time, without any delay or damage.

Thank goodness she went through Moveit.ca. These situations arise all the time. Moveit.ca has 14 years’ experience dealing with thousands of customers…I wish we could say we have seen it all, but I am sure there is more to come. If this customer had just booked directly with the mover, she would have had no recourse, no third party to help her resolve the situation. This is exactly why Moveit.ca was started and is our goal to help our customer. Spread the word. Book your move through Moveit.ca and have peace of mind in the comfort of knowing we are here to help in times of need.

Here is the final email from our customer:

I want to thank you and your company for the support we received. I spoke to (name removed for privacy) today and he apologized for the mix up and gave us the proper weight of my daughter’s items which was 2030 lbs. He gave me an estimated time of arrival of Friday afternoon.

No negative reviews will be posted; I’ll contact the police and let them know this problem has been resolved.

Thank you again,

(Name removed for privacy)

  • Get rid of the junk! Get rid of anything you don’t need or want, it will make packing that much easier and save you money. The more stuff you have will increase the time and or weight of the move and will cost you more money!
