Moving Tips: Awesome Apps to Use for Moving
There’s an app for everything nowadays and moving is no different. We have looked over many of these apps and are happy to show the best apps that are totally free and offer something special to the moving process. Moving is expensive as it is and the last thing you need are more fees to add on top of that.
Move Advisor (iOS, Android, Google)
Move Advisor is an app that helps you organize the entire moving experience. It has a nice design and is easy to use, even for those who might be more digitally challenged. It has four tools, each of which is perfect for a certain phase of the moving process.
- Moving Timeline – This is a week-by-week checklist that is very detailed. You punch in your moving date and whether you’re hiring a moving company or doing it yourself. At that point, it gives you a detailed to-do list for each week to ensure everything gets done when it should be done.
- Home Inventory – This tool allows you to take an inventory of your home. You add a room and fill it up with items in your life. The household items available cover a broad range of items. Once you’ve done you save it and move on to the next room. What’s really cool is that it can tell you how many boxes you need and how much of a truck your items will fill.
- Movers Around You – This tool lets you find a professional moving company near your home so you don’t have to do all the research yourself. You can also look at ratings and reviews from other customers to get a good idea of the company before contacting them.
- Get A Moving Quote – This allows you to get a quote from an insured moving company so you can compare moving cost estimates and choose one that fits your needs.
MyMove (iOS, Android, Google)
This tool is developed by World Media Group and is a great app that helps at every step of the way. It has a simple design and is very responsive, concentrating on the three steps of a move: being informed about what to expect, finding a reliable company, and organizing the move.
- Expert Moving Advice – This gives you an article that helps you find a great company for your needs. It also gives you access to a blog that offers articles and tips for moving, checklists, interviews, and so much more.
- Professional Relocation Assistance – You can find movers for a specific area, local or long distance. You can read reviews and testimonials to know a bit more about the company. You can also get a free moving price estimate in only a few taps of the screen.
- Relocation Organization – This is the checklist portion of the app which starts as early as two months before moving. You can complete and delete tasks, or even add your own checklist entries.
While the two above apps have a ton of features, there are many others that can work well with them. Here are a few favorites:
- Sortly – offers the ability to organize all your possessions, along with a moving checklist, and many extended features, like QR labels and videos.
- Dolly – connects you with movers to move your things where needed. You can book movers, along with a vehicle, if needed.
- Unpakt – this application helps you find many moving companies based on move data, location, and inventory.
- ThredUP – offers cash for old clothing you aren’t taking with you. Fill out information and you get a bag to fill up and send back.
- Zillow – has a broad range of apartment listings as well as house listings. Many photos are available for most listings and it also has easy filtration.
Whether you want to try one of the all-inclusive apps or prefer a few of the other options, each of these apps is well-done and offers features that are great for the mover in the process.
